  • Sonicorbiter i5 2.7 to 2.8 upgrade help needed

Hello everyone! I having been enjoying my Sonicorbiter i5 for a couple of years with no problems, but I now seem to be stuck on 2.7!

I tried followed the instructions to upgrade to 2.8 from here:

    http://www.sonicorbiter.com/docs/upgrade

After hitting the Update button, rebooting, and then running upgrade28.php for part 1, these are the messages I see.

    Upgrade in progress...

When I reboot, I am still at 2.7.

Am surely doing something dumb, but no idea what that is!

Thanks very much for your help!

On Andrew's advice, I tried the upgrade again and this time it worked!

Not sure why it succeeded today after a couple of failed attempts a few days ago, but it did. Only thing I noticed was that this time, both parts 1 and 2 took a lot longer to complete. And, of course, part 2 really did run part 2 (instead of just running part 1 for a second time).

I guess, sometimes, the 3rd try really is the charm! 😊

Is it possible that waiting a couple days cleared something in cache? I’m having the exact same experience (ref. Stage 1 runs again after each reboot.)

No idea if that’s what happened, but I know that I didn’t do anything other than repeating the upgrade process.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing the same, but TBH, I’m a bit reassured that it’s not just me! 😋

Hope your upgrade eventually succeeds. Good luck!

          Hook1957 - Thank you!

The fourth time was the charm for me... 😀

Yes sometimes the third party server (we don't control these) are offline. This doesn't happen often so if the upgrade fails just try it again.

I have the exact same issue... have tried the 2.7 > 2.8 update over the past week without success.

Looks like the update servers are getting overloaded probable due to some many people running this update! If you have issues wait 1/2 and, reboot and try again.
